It was Nathan’s birthday on July 12. He would of been 29 years old.
We celebrated his birthday, with some of Nate’s closest friends, at Little Point, a beach where he spent a lot of time surfing and hanging out with friends.
It was a difficult and beautiful day, all at the same time.
Nate’s best friend Dave, got married before Nathan passed, to a wonderful woman named Betsy, who was also close to Nathan. Dave shared with me, soon after Nathan left this earth, that one of his dreams, and the desire of his heart was to have children, and that they would have their Uncle Nate. This was something he really looked forward to, for years. He and Betsy were blessed with a beautiful little girl, a year after Nathan passed. Her name is Isabella Marin Hunt. Her middle name means, “of the sea”, which was named after Nathan.
I brought a large picture of Nate to the party. I love this picture. His eyes looking up toward heaven, doing the thing he most enjoyed doing~ Catching a wave.
I sat the picture by the table, where we could see his face and have him close. Little Isabella, who is thirteen months old, walked up to the picture and began talking. She stood there contentedly. She reached out and touched him. She stayed there. It was amazing. Next thing we see, she reaches in to kiss his face. It was as if she knew him. Her little heart connecting with her Uncle Nate, and the love her parents have for him.
We sat and watched her engage, feel, and experience, whatever she was experiencing. I thought, ” if only my eyes could see, beyond what they can see”
It was beautiful, powerful…..
It was a heavenly moment, for all of us.
